Weekend in Zarautz, northern Spain

I spent the weekend with some friends in the coastal town of Zarautz, Basque Country, Northern Spain. It is located about 15 kms. or 9.3 mi. west of San Sebastian and 85 kms. or 53 mi. east of Bilbao. It has a population of 25,000 people, but it reaches around 60,000 in the summer… And it’s easy to understand why: beautiful town, mild weather, great beach and views, excelent cuisine, so peaceful and relaxing. We stayed at Hotel Zerupe. I recommend it. Very well located in downtown, good price, clean and very comfortable. The building and the room look new, so I’m guessing it was built recently (last year). My friends and I went surfing one day and it was fun… But the water was really cold (it was April). Surf in the summer! Also, a group went running to the top of Mount Santa Barbara, from where you get an awesome view of the town (see pictures). At night, we went to have a few drinks downtown and at the beach.
